Sesame Kaak Bread Rings: A Home-Style Recipe
Cookies & baking · Makes 8 rings · Published October 22, 2026
Sesame-coated bread rings are a useful companion to dips and tea. This simple yeast dough makes soft-centered rings rather than hard biscuit kaak.

Ingredients
- 3 cups bread flour
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp honey mixed with 3 tbsp water
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds
Method
- Mix flour, yeast, sugar and salt, then add water and oil. Knead until smooth, cover and rise until doubled.
- Divide into eight pieces, roll into ropes and join ends firmly into rings. Set on a lined tray and rest 30–45 minutes until puffy.
- Heat oven to 400°F. Brush rings with diluted honey and dip the tops in sesame seeds.
- Bake 18–22 minutes until golden. Cool on a rack so the bases do not become damp.
A better result
Pinch the joined ends securely before the second rise; a loose join can open in the oven.
