Meghli Spiced Pudding: A Home-Style Recipe
Sweets · Makes 6 cups · Published October 22, 2026
Meghli is a rice-flour pudding flavored with caraway and cinnamon. Whisking throughout cooking prevents the flour from settling or clumping.

A home-style variation, not our shop’s formula. These recipes have not been kitchen-tested by Syrian Sweets of America. Check ingredient labels for allergens and kosher suitability.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup rice flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 cups water
- 1 tsp ground caraway
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground anise
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts
Method
- Combine rice flour, sugar and spices in a saucepan. Gradually whisk in cold water until smooth.
- Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, whisking continuously. Reduce heat and cook 12–18 minutes until thick enough to coat a spoon.
- Pour into six heatproof cups. Cool briefly, then refrigerate within 2 hours and chill until set.
- Top with coconut and nuts just before serving. Use separate garnishes if serving guests with nut allergies.
